New RFID System for the Silver Eel Monitoring at the Somme, France (2017-11-01)

Last week, Profish completed the installation of a complete RFID fish detection system on behalf of the Fisheries Association of the Somme, France. At the dam of Éclusier-Vaux, the Fisheries Association investigates the downstream-migration of silver eels with traditional eel traps. To improve the quality of the data colection, the new detection system now allows to determine migration paths of previously tagged eels that were released upstream. The new data will help us to better understand the behavioral patterns of eels (i.e. peak migration events, the influence of environmental parameters, etc.). 60 eels have already been tagged with a PIT-TAG. The tagging campaign will continue in the coming weeks.
